Forget about cheap apricots: what will happen to fruit and berry prices in Ukraine.

Experts forecast that prices for fruits and berries in Ukraine will rise significantly throughout 2025. The cost of products will increase by 20-50% compared to last year, depending on the items. The price linkage to the level of imports, especially from Turkey and EU countries, is due to the decline in harvests caused by spring frosts and reduced production.
Alexander Khorev from EastFruit Weekly Ukraine warns: 'Prices for products will decrease, but not significantly. Prices will normalize, focusing on the international market.'
Regarding fruits and berries, an increase in prices of 20-50% can be expected. The main reason for the rise is the significant dependence on imports, especially after spring frosts that caused losses in Ukrainian and European farms.
Reasons for price increases
The critical dependence on imported fruits and berries for Ukrainians is due to worsening growing conditions and crop losses due to bad weather. According to estimates, over 70% of the 'vitamin basket' must be imported from abroad. Since the spring frosts, the situation in the market has worsened due to crop losses and production in Europe.
Current market situation
Prices for fruits have already noticeably increased. Apples have tripled in price, strawberries doubled. The price of cherries has risen to 180 UAH per kilogram, while imported cherries have reached 380 UAH. Ukrainians are increasingly consuming imported products due to the shortage of domestic goods.
According to experts' forecasts, prices for fruits and berries in Ukraine may increase by 20-50% compared to the previous year. The reason is the decline in production due to weather conditions, affecting harvests on Ukrainian and European farms. It is expected that prices will stabilize, but will still remain high considering global market trends.
