On November 12, a road accident occurred resulting in the death of Archimandrite Artemiy Patskan, the prior of the Protection male St. George's Monastery of the Moscow Church Eparchy in Ukraine. This was reported by the Information Center of the UOC MP.
The incident took place at night in the village of Velyka Uholyka in Tyachiv district of Transcarpathian region.
Police reported that the driver of the car, in which Father Artemiy and three other passengers were traveling, lost control, causing the car to swerve off the road and flip over into a ravine.
As a result of the accident, one of the passengers, a 53-year-old man, died on the spot, another passenger, a 55-year-old resident of the village of Kopashnevo in Khust district, died on the way to the hospital. Another female passenger and the driver were hospitalized. A fourth passenger refused hospitalization.
It is worth noting that in October, Metropolitan Onuphrius convened a Synod of the UOC MP in Kyiv. The Synod took place at the St. Panteleimon women's monastery (Theophany). There, the head and hierarchs of the UOC MP discussed church life issues.
It is also worth mentioning that since 2018, 1,502 religious communities that previously belonged to the Moscow Church have joined the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.
