The 'eBook' program for Ukrainian 18-year-olds: popularity and statistics
During the first three months of the 'eBook' program, over 317,000 18-year-old Ukrainians took advantage of the opportunity to purchase books. The total amount spent is 68 million UAH for 214,978 books. This information was disclosed by the Ukrainian Book Institute, reported by 'Glavcom'.
The 'eBook' program was launched in December 2024 and has already gained popularity among 317,334 Ukrainians. In the first quarter, 18-year-old citizens spent almost 68 million UAH on book purchases, with more than half being women. The remaining funds in the recipients' accounts amount to 23 million UAH.
The most popular publishing houses among 18-year-olds were 'KSD', Vivat, BookChef, 'Ranok', and 'VSL'. Among foreign authors, romantic and youth literature predominates, while among Ukrainian authors, the works of Volodymyr Stanchyshyn, Illarion Pavliuk, and Andrii Semyankiv are most notable.
Analyzing reading standards among the youth, one can note the activity and interest of the target age group in literature through access to the 'eBook' program. The ability to acquire books for free attracts a wide circle of users and promotes the development of reading skills and culture in society.
