The number of women entrepreneurs in Ukraine has increased.


The number of women entrepreneurs in Ukraine has risen by 22.5%
From 2020 to 2024, the number of individual entrepreneurs (FOP) in Ukraine increased, despite challenging economic and external circumstances, such as Russia's invasion in 2022.
By the end of 2024, there were 2.3 million FOPs in Ukraine, of which 1.1 million (48.1%) were women. Compared to 2020, the total number of FOPs increased by 330,000 (17.1%), while the number of women entrepreneurs rose by 200,000 (22.5%).
The highest number of women entrepreneurs is found in cities:
- Kyiv - 131.5 thousand.
- Dnipropetrovsk region - 83.5 thousand.
- Lviv region - 73.1 thousand.
- Kharkiv region - 71.3 thousand.
- Odesa region - 71.4 thousand.
The regional leaders by the number of women entrepreneurs are Khmelnytskyi region (53%), Volyn region (50.6%), and Kirovohrad region (50.5%).
The most popular industries among women entrepreneurs are:
- Audit and accounting - 85.7% women
- Educational institutions - 76.5% women
- Other services - 66.7% women
- Tourism - 64.7% women
- Medical institutions - 63.7% women
- Light industry - 61.1% women
- Retail - 60.5% women
- Pharmaceutical industry - 58.4% women
- Public catering - 56.6% women
- Art organizations - 56.3% women
Women entrepreneurship in Ukraine shows qualitative growth and plays an important role in the business environment. Women demonstrate resilience and adaptability in their work, especially under conditions of economic uncertainty. They create new opportunities for the development of small businesses and contribute to the revitalization of local economies.
