In Romania, an incident with a fire occurred in the Palace of Parliament, during which a man threw a flammable substance in one of the rooms. The building was quickly evacuated, but the perpetrator managed to escape. The incident occurred in the visitors' room, where the fire covered 30 square meters of space, burning stationery and textiles. Overall, about three hundred people were evacuated during the incident. The fire was brought under control, and no one was injured. The police released a photo of the suspect and urged citizens to help with the search. For such activities, the perpetrator faces two to seven years in prison.
In turn, the leader of the "Power of the Right" party, Ludovic Orban, announced his desire to run for President of Romania.
Earthquake in Romania
On Monday, an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.2 occurred in Romania, which turned out to be the strongest in the country in 2021. The duration of the tremors was 140 kilometers. This earthquake occurred in the Vrancea County region in the east of the country. Further tremors are not excluded, and Romanian rescuers urge people to remain calm.
