An armored vehicle M88 Hercules has been discovered in Lithuania, in which four American soldiers who went missing during exercises near the border with Belarus may have been present. This was reported by 'Glavkom' citing the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense.
The soldiers went missing during training at the training ground in Pabrade, located near the border of Belarus. These exercises were part of the rotational forces of the United States preparing units stationed in Lithuania.
The search operation lasted six days, and the armored vehicle, which was stuck in the mud at the scene, was finally retrieved.
'After the operation to remove the armored vehicle from the swamp was completed, the Lithuanian military police and investigators from the US continue to work at the scene. We remain patient and focused as they gather additional information about the situation,' the statement said.
It should be noted that four US Army soldiers who participated in the exercises in Lithuania went missing near the border with Belarus. The exact date of the soldiers' disappearance is unknown. The US Embassy reported that the soldiers went missing at the training area near Pabrade in eastern Lithuania.
According to the embassy, the missing soldiers belong to the First Brigade of the Third Infantry Division. The Armed Forces of Lithuania also reported the disappearance of tracked transport during the exercises.
