Shulyak announced the staggering amount of damages to Ukraine due to the war.

The head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on the Organization of State Power, Local Self-Government, Regional Development and Urban Planning, Olena Shulyak, reported that updated estimates of damages caused to Ukraine by the aggression of the Russian Federation could reach 600 billion dollars or more.
According to World Bank estimates in the RDNA3 report, as of December 2023, the needs for the reconstruction of Ukraine amounted to 486 billion dollars. But 2024 became yet another difficult test: the enemy continued to destroy purely civilian facilities. Therefore, updated estimates of damages may exceed the mark of even 600 billion dollars, or even more.
Olena Shulyak participated in the forum 'Modern Solutions for the Protection of Construction Structures', which was organized by the Confederation of Builders of Ukraine. The event discussed not only problems but also opportunities for transforming destroyed objects into modern and innovative spaces.
The deputy emphasized that recovery is not just a construction process but also an opportunity for the development of national producers, the implementation of advanced technologies, the creation of new industries, ensuring sustainable development, the development of a circular economy, a green transition, and the development of human-centered solutions.
