A student lived in occupied Mariupol for a year and transmitted data to Ukrainian partisans.


A student of a Ukrainian university, Andriy Kozhushyna, spoke about his Time in the frontline zone of Mariupol for a year. He actively filmed the city, which was captured by Russian troops, and transmitted information to the Telegram channel 'Mariupol Resistance'. He continues his studies at a Ukrainian university.
Andriy was born and raised in Mariupol, and his hometown flourished before the invasion began. He decided to help the resistance movement and provide information about life in the occupied city, so he intentionally studied at a fake university to gather information about teachers and documents. Andriy actively collaborated with the Telegram channel 'Mariupol Resistance' and sent them videos and other information about life in the city.
After a year of staying in the isolated zone of Mariupol, Andriy managed to escape to the territory controlled by Ukraine. He is currently continuing his studies at a Ukrainian university and working in the admissions office.
Andriy emphasizes that during the war he cared for a sick relative, while his parents refused to leave Mariupol. Therefore, he decided to stay and help his city through the resistance movement.
Andriy also shares the dangers he faced during his time in the isolated zone of Mariupol. He was placed on the 'Black List of Mariupol' and was threatened with arrest and trial as a terrorist and extremist. Andriy managed to escape thanks to volunteers from Russia and reached Ukraine.
Currently, Andriy is studying at a Ukrainian university and working in the admissions office. He continues to help the resistance movement and transmit information about occupied Mariupol.
