SBU detained the leadership of the defense plant: what are they accused of.

The Security Service of Ukraine, together with the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Strategic Industries, uncovered a large scheme for supplying defective mortar shells to the front. Four individuals were detained in Dnipropetrovsk region, including the general director of the defense plant, his first deputy, a former head of the military representation of the Ministry of Defense, and the head of the control group of the relevant unit.

When were the supplies of unusable shots made?

According to the investigation, at the beginning of 2024, the plant's management signed a contract with the Defense Procurement Agency for the production of ammunition for the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The enterprise was supposed to supply wholesale batches of 120-mm mortar shells, but production was carried out using low-quality materials and violating technological processes.

How was the production cost reduced?

According to expert analysis, the identified defects caused unstable operation of the propellant charge and issues with the functioning of the main propellant charge capsule. In addition, the additional propellant charges in the ammunition did not meet the standards for combat use.

Who was involved in distributing unusable shots?

The organizers of the scheme reduced production costs to gain greater profit from state orders. Officials from the military representation responsible for quality control participated in the scheme. They consciously ignored violations and provided false information in the reporting documentation.

What are the consequences of the scheme involving unusable shots?

As a result of these actions, 120,000 unusable shots reached the front, which was confirmed by expert analysis. All four detainees have been notified of suspicion under part 2 of article 28, part 2 of article 114-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (obstruction of lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations, committed by a group of persons in a preliminary conspiracy, which led to serious consequences). The offenders face up to 15 years of imprisonment.
