The Security Service of Ukraine on Monday, July 21, conducted an inspection at the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office regarding compliance with the legislation on state secrets, the SAP press service reported on Facebook.
Searches at SAP
The representatives of SAP noted that the searches conducted by the SBU took place without an official warning, which is required by law. During the inspection, SBU officers had access to information about covert and operational measures carried out by NABU and SAP. This episode occurred while the leadership of NABU and SAP were on a business trip abroad, which may jeopardize the confidentiality of operational actions within the ongoing criminal proceedings. Prosecutor representatives urged SBU employees to comply with the law to avoid leaking information and hindering the investigation of corruption cases.
Additionally, the SBU is also conducting searches among NABU employees, and one of the leaders of NABU detectives was detained in conjunction with the SBU and the Office of the Prosecutor General on suspicion of collaborating with the Russian Federation in the business sector.
Corruption investigations in Ukraine are becoming increasingly acute, as various agencies actively operate in this area and expose instances of corruption within the government and law enforcement agencies. Such inspections and detentions indicate the activity of Ukrainian law enforcement in combating this negative phenomenon.Read also
