Rubio: Russia has weeks to demonstrate readiness for peace in Ukraine.

The United States expects real actions from Russia that confirm its readiness for a peaceful resolution of the war in Ukraine within the coming weeks. This was stated by Secretary of State Rubio after a meeting of NATO ministers in Brussels.
If there is a tactic of waiting and dragging out, we will not be interested. And the president will not fall into the trap of endless negotiations.
He emphasized that the U.S. seeks to end the war on terms that will be acceptable to both sides but will not settle for endless negotiations. Rubio also noted that the decision on peace depends on Russia's actions, not its words.
We are looking to see if Russia is ready for peace. Not their words, but their actions will show whether they are serious about it. And we would like to find this out soon.
The Secretary of State stressed that the U.S. is not ready to engage in 'talks about talks' without a real process for peacefully resolving the war. Furthermore, Rubio mentioned that the U.S. Congress is working on a new sanctions bill against the RF to send a clear signal to Moscow regarding its readiness for peace.
If Russia does not demonstrate serious intentions in the near future, the U.S. will be forced to reassess its strategy. The key decision regarding readiness for peace, he said, remains with President Putin and the Russian Federation.
Thus, the United States is waiting for concrete actions from Russia to confirm its seriousness and readiness for a peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine. If Russia does not show intentions for peace, the U.S. will be forced to change its strategy. The bill on sanctions against the RF is also part of this strategy.
