Putin's refusal of the peace plan involving the US and Europe

Last week, Russian leader Vladimir Putin rejected the conflict resolution plan developed together with the United States, Ukraine, and Europe. This was reported by the Financial Times.

According to the publication's sources, last Thursday, senior officials of the Russian Federation informed the special envoy of the US president, Steve Witkoff, that Putin did not wish to discuss the peace plan consisting of 22 points, which the Americans developed together with Ukrainians and Europeans.

After this, a meeting of Ukrainian and American delegations took place during a phone call the following day. Ukraine was represented by the head of the president's office, Andriy Yermak, and Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, while the US side was represented by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the president's special envoy Steve Witkoff, and Keith Kellogg.

According to the publication, Russia's reaction led to the postponement of Witkoff's meeting with Putin, although Witkoff's representative emphasized that the meeting was not planned in the first place.

Diplomatic activity in the face of Putin's refusal

In the following days, diplomatic activity intensified. European and Ukrainian leaders called for an immediate 30-day ceasefire, threatening Putin with severe sanctions if this condition was not met with US support. Journalists even noted surprise that the Trump administration had begun to understand Putin's reluctance to participate in peace negotiations.

In case of Putin's refusal to comply with the conditions of a peaceful resolution of the conflict, relations between Russia and other countries may escalate.
