The Orthodox Church officially received the Assumption Cathedral in Kaniv.

The Assumption Cathedral in Kaniv has been transferred to the Orthodox Church of Ukraine
A solemn prayer took place in the Assumption Cathedral in Kaniv after its transfer to the ownership of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine. This was reported by the Minister of Culture and Information Policy Mykola Tochitsky.
The minister noted this event as a historic step, as the temple where people once said goodbye to Taras Shevchenko has returned to the Ukrainian community. Tochitsky emphasized the need to cleanse Ukrainian shrines from Moscow's influence, which is a priority for the state.
“The Lavra must be free from the Moscow spirit; this is the main goal of the head of the reserve. However, the ministry facilitates the transfer of temples to the OCU, and the results of the head's activities over the past year do not meet the needs of national security in Ukraine,” Tochitsky noted.
The minister stated that the Ministry of Culture will urgently defend Ukrainian shrines from the influence of the Moscow church. At the same Time, the director of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra was dismissed for violating his official duties and inappropriate conduct.
The issue of reconciliation between the Orthodox Church and the UOC MP is complicated by political interference, according to the archbishop of the UOC MP Lyubetsky Nikodim. Currently, representatives of the Moscow Patriarchate still reside in the Lavra, although a court case is being considered, complicating access for the believers.
