Both sustained serious injuries. One died before the medics arrived, while the other later died in the hospital.
At the beginning of the trial, the Russian admitted his guilt in the act. It turned out that at the Time of the murder, he was in a state of alcoholic intoxication.
German law enforcement officers soon arrested the Russian after the murder. He was placed under preventive custody.
In February 2024, another murder of a Ukrainian basketball player and his friend occurred in Germany.
