It will take years to restore Czechia after floods – Petr Pavel.

Restoration of areas in Czechia affected by the flood will take months or years. This was stated by President Petr Pavel on Czech Television, writes e15.cz. The government must significantly help mayors, both financially and with other means, and ensure local elections, which will be held next weekend.
«The government will need to sit down with mayors and governors and seriously consider how to significantly help the most affected towns and municipalities. Because the budgets being considered today certainly won't cover the losses», – said the Czech leader.
«The flood of the decade» covered several countries in Europe in mid-September, including Czechia, Austria, Poland, and Romania. Prolonged rains caused the water levels to rise in the Danube, Morava, and other rivers.
In Czechia, according to the latest data, five people died as a result of the flood, and eight more went missing. Due to the bad weather, about 260,000 houses were left without electricity, and part of the railways was closed.
Recall that due to floods in Poland and Czechia, railway operators in both countries temporarily canceled a number of trains.
By the way, the destructive floods that flooded vast areas in Africa and Central Europe were caused by global warming. The floods claimed the lives of more than 15 people and destroyed buildings from Austria to Romania. The destructions were caused by powerful downpours around the world last week. Entire villages were flooded in Myanmar, and nearly 300 inmates escaped from a destroyed prison in Nigeria, where floods affected the lives of more than a million people.
