Apartment for 6000 hryvnias per month: who in Ukraine will receive affordable housing from the state.

Ukraine is preparing to launch a new social program aimed at creating a municipal housing fund to provide affordable rentals to citizens in difficult life circumstances, including those affected by the war. The program is designed for veterans, military personnel, families of fallen defenders, orphans, budget sector workers, and other vulnerable groups of the population. Funding will come from local budgets and international partners, and the funds will be used to provide new social housing.
Who can benefit from the program
The program is open to warriors, veterans, families of fallen defenders, orphans, and workers in the budget sector, such as teachers, medical personnel, and utility workers. Candidates must meet certain criteria, including not owning their own housing and meeting space requirements. The rent for a one-bedroom apartment is expected to be around 6000 hryvnias per month.
Information about this was shared by journalist Irina Polyakova, referring to the draft law 'On the Main Principles of Housing Policy', proposed by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.
Funding of the program
Money for the program will be allocated from local budgets and loans and grants obtained from international partners. The funds will be used for the construction of new housing for the selected category of citizens. Among other initiatives, in collaboration with the World Bank, it is planned to repair 200 apartment buildings in communities affected by the war.
