The Committee on Foreign Policy of the Verkhovna Rada supported the ratification of the subsoil agreement between Ukraine and the USA both as a basis and in general. This event was reported by People's Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak in his message.

According to his information, the committee proposed to include important clarifications in the text of the bill. Among them is the requirement that any additional agreements on the creation of the Reconstruction Fund do not contradict this agreement, as well as provisions on the validity of the agreement throughout the territory of Ukraine within internationally recognized borders.

He also noted that the final ratification in the Verkhovna Rada is scheduled for May 8.

Previous steps towards the agreement

It should be noted that on May 1, Ukraine's Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko and the US Secretary of the Treasury signed an agreement on minerals, which was the first step towards the implementation of cooperation in the field of mining.
