Klitschko announced the connection of heat in Kiev and the launch of a unique energy project.

The city authorities announce that heat has been successfully connected to the residential sector of the city. According to the Mayor Vitali Klitschko, almost all communal residential buildings in Kyiv are provided with heat.
In addition, heating has been received by over 96% of buildings of ZhBK, OSBB and departmental buildings that have submitted individual applications for connection.
At the same Time, the first 1.5 MW gas-piston cogeneration unit has started operating in the city. The equipment was installed at one of the objects of critical infrastructure with the support of USAID and the Energy Security Project.
In May of this year, the Kyiv City Council approved the Concept of "Energy Renewal: The Path to Distributed Cogeneration". The initiative involves the development of local combined heat and power sources, as well as the expansion of the use of alternative fuel sources and has received support from international partners.
The city authorities have ordered another 15 cogeneration units, which are planned to be received within the year. The overall goal of the project is to achieve an additional total capacity of approximately 170 MW.
