Finland Launches Large-Scale Trade Project with Ukraine.

The European Investment Fund and Finland's export credit agency Finnvera have signed an agreement for a pilot project worth 30 million euros, aimed at boosting Finnish exports to Ukraine. This agreement will allow Finnish companies trading with Ukraine to obtain export loans under guarantees from the European Investment Fund within the InvestEU program.
The pilot project is designed to support Finnish small and medium-sized enterprises with fewer than 500 employees seeking new opportunities in the Ukrainian market. The guarantee from the European Investment Fund will complement national export support mechanisms in Finland, enabling Finnvera to provide export guarantees to Ukraine under special conditions.
This is one of 13 agreements being prepared with national export credit agencies in EU member states under this mechanism.
The InvestEU export credit guarantee mechanism is a joint initiative of the European Commission and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. It provides guarantees of up to 300 million euros to support small and medium-sized enterprises in the EU exporting to Ukraine. The mechanism was launched in July 2024 and is popular among EU member states.
The cooperation project between the European Investment Fund and Finnvera will help Finnish companies obtain export loans under guarantees, promoting trade development between the two countries and aiding the Ukrainian market in attracting foreign investments, strengthening cooperation and fostering economic growth in Ukraine and Europe.
The agreement between the European Investment Fund and Finnvera to support Finnish exports to Ukraine is one of many agreements concluded under the InvestEU program. This pilot project will promote the development of small and medium-sized enterprises in Finland looking to expand their activities in the Ukrainian market and help improve trade relations between Ukraine and the EU.
