Drone Attack on Russia: Smoke Rising Near a Military Unit

A military unit in the Moscow region has caught fire

Smoke is clearly visible near one of the military units that is part of the air defense forces (AD) in the Moscow region. This was reported by the publication 'Glavkom' citing local Telegram channels.

This unit initially functioned as a storage facility and base for the S-25 'Berkut' (SA-1 Guild according to NATO classification) surface-to-air missile system. It is known in sources as the 190th repair and technical base (RTB) for the S-25 'Berkut'. This site supplied separate air defense batteries, for example, to the Petelino area, which were fully equipped with V-300 surface-to-air missiles.

Actions of the military unit today

Currently, this military unit continues its operations as a training ground for the mobile S-300 surface-to-air missile system. It is also worth noting that Russia has once again become a target for drones. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, at least 77 drones have been detected, distributed as follows:

  • 42 - over the Kursk region;
  • 14 - over Belgorod;
  • Nine - over Moscow;
  • Eight - over Oryol;
  • Two - over Kaluga;
  • One each - over Ryazan and Tula regions.

It should also be noted that on the night of May 21, the Armed Forces of Ukraine struck the Bolkhov semiconductor plant in the Oryol region. This plant was a key element of the Russian military industry and specialized in the development and production of electronic devices for radio-electronic equipment.

The drone attack on the military unit in the Moscow region and the Ukrainian Armed Forces' strike on the semiconductor plant illustrate the escalation of the situation in the region against the backdrop of the overall tension between Russia and Ukraine. Hostile attacks and corresponding actions by the parties could lead to further escalation of the conflict and intensification of hostilities.
